Kat Dunn runs the asset operations at a major US distributor for one of the world’s largest orthopedic medical device companies. Before using the software platform built by the team from Movemedical, she had two major challenges:
- There was a huge lack of inventory visibility. While there were basic ideas of where the specific item location could be, it was not certain or accurate. This caused lots of extra work and made the process more susceptible to errors.
- The field operations and sales teams were not aligned properly.
What was it like before you implemented the software built by the Movemedical team?
Our old system was only updated once a day, and you had no visibility to your satellite offices’ activity. I used to make a dozen+ calls a day asking questions about stock, and I don’t have to do that anymore!
What does the platform do that you feel helps the most?
It gives us complete visibility to all products, and providing that all reps behave accordingly, the system gives us a real-time schedule so we can see what has happened and what is going to happen in surgery. You can see who is doing what and when! The software provides us with an environment that connects operations with the sales field – can’t put a price on it! The mobile app is awesome, I don’t have to be at my desk to see what’s going on!
How has your job improved by using the platform?
I now have a tool that provides me with real-time data! I can run a query on just about anything I need – from case development stats to sourcing, invoicing. I can create metrics to measure my team’s workload. I can know where my reps are when I need to get ahold of them. I can see how rough Monday and Tuesday are going to be next week and start planning ahead.
What is your favorite feature in the system?
The product chooser is by far my favorite feature. I love being able to customize a piece of our business to suit our specific needs. There’s something to be said for standardization, but when you can put your own spin on something, that sets you apart in a sweet way.

What is possible today that wasn’t possible before?
Real-time visibility to where the product is, is the key!
